Sometimes you talk to people who have a varied opinion on ambushing a turkey. Is it ethical? Well I simply hunt to the situation. Obviously, most people would rather call in a turkey. However, if you want to continue to be successful in the field you must become versatile. Not every turkey wishes to be lured by your seductive calls.(In fact some of my largest spurred birds were ambushed) By using the land terrain and staying low I have bagged several longbeards. With a little practice and the right moves you will certainly surprise yourself. I personally use this tactic on henned up longbeards and wary call shy public birds. Dont forget to put this in your bag of tricks- you may pull a rabbit out of your hat! Laughing

Very well written,...

I will have to say that if a longbeard is hung up, it is hard to not try the ole ambush...just a little more difficult for bigger folks.
